Previously email messages would be stored whereby I could click on them in the contact's record and open up the email as an attachment eg. "tempECEC.msg" On opening this attachment it would open the email in Outlook meaning if you wanted to forward it you could do.
What's happening now is the email is being stored without this .msg attachment meaning you can see its contents but not open it in Outlook.
I upgraded to 2011 a few months ago so I'm not sure if this is a new thing or if I've inadvertently changed a setting somewhere. How can I get it back to the ".msg" method?

looks like you changed your preference to save the email subject plus message body. You need to change it back to always attach the message. Tools>>Preferences>>Email Tab. Then run through the email setup again and choose the option to always attach.
