ACT, MS SQL & Outlook

I recently upgraded from ACT2000 to ACT2007, and was disappointed in how slow the program became. Various postings have blamed it on MS SQL, which as typical of most MS programs, is bloated. I am a small company, and with no real tech support, I don't have time for this issue.

So I'd like to downgrade to whatever version of ACT does NOT use MS SQL, does NOT require Windows XP, Vista or Server 2003 to run the server, and DOES work with Outlook 2002/2003. I read that only ACT v7 & beyond use MS SQL, so what if I go back to ACT6--will it work with Outlook 2002 & 2003? Will it work with either Linux or even NT as the server OS? Thanks.

ACT! 6.0 worked with Office 2002/3
While it's not supported, it can use Linux with Samba as a server if you MAKE SURE you turn OFF Opportunistic Record Locking or the database will become damaged otherwise
