I have just upgraded from ACT 2010 (I believe that is ACT 12) to ACT 18.
I have it installed on a my laptop and my desktop, both of which are running Windows 7.
The Email connection test has failed on both computers.
In each case, I went to the knowledge base article's instructions that it points me to (kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22966). This article says that I should disable the Hardware DEP in my system's BIOS, and I did this by using the TurnDEPOff_22966.bat download that they indicated. On both computers, the connection test still failed, so I restored it to the point just before I turned the DEP off.
On the Desktop, the only problem seems to be that the connection fails. ACT Email will turn on.
On the laptop, ACT Email will not turn on. Instead, when I try to turn it on, ACT freezes, and I have to close it using the Task Manager.
I also tried deleting the email settings that were imported from my ACT 2010 setup and entering the email settings again, but that didn't help.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get ACT email to work?
