I have a remote data base, written to CD and mailed to me from my home office. When I try to restore the remote data base, I get the following error message:
"Database and datastore files were not successfully extracted from zip file. The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters."
I've copied the .rdb file to my hard drive and tried to extract from there to my existing ACT! database folder through the browse feature. No way the path or file name is exceeding the character limit in either case.
Windows XP Pro, SP3, ACT! 9.0.

The folder path where you're trying to restore the remote is too long. To workaround this issue, create a new folder off the root of C and restore the remote to that folder.
