ACT!2013 Pro Crashes switching from List view EDIT MODE back to Detail View . error msg=ACT! has encountered an error. Please shutdown the application... when I click back on Detial View button.
ACT!2013 will not return to Detail view until app is closed and restarted.
Tried removing check from edit mode box.
ACTDiag rebuild options did not prevail.
The database was an older version of ACT!2012 and came from my pc. My customers pc is windows7.
We performed a file restore db, restore-as on his pc..
The ACT!2013 demo db works fine. Just a db that gets updated from older version of ACT! has problem.
NOTE: I tried to re-create problem on my pc that is same brand/os as customer pc and all is well with edit mode/listview.
We both are using Dell Optiplex desktop windows7 pc's.. I installed/created the same db on mine ok..
So for now, the problem is on his pc only.
Is this another 2013 problem like the Dup Checking Button problem / fix?
Can you please point me to the fix if it already exist in the knowledgebase?
Hope you can help - Thank you - FSB

Greig,
On this issue, if I recall, what we did to resolve was;
Close ACT!
I thnk we deleted ACT! 2013 Preference Folder?
Run ACTDIAG
Detach the afflicted Database
Reboot pc / Ran Scan disk.
Re-open ACT! db..
Prior; We also ran that kb fix for Duplicate Checking Button in Preferences.
Hope that helps. Cheers - FSB

Greg, the solution posted for the other user did not work for me. So I have a laptop with this issue that I would love to show someone so we can get this reported. I can make it fail everytime.

Hi Patricia,
If you had an older version of ACT! and you updated an existing database to ACT!2013,
you might try this;
using a pre-2013 update, ACT! database zipfile backup of your older version db
then, in ACT!2013, Perform a File Restore database, Restore As; option and give the new db a different name.
ACT!2013 will update the older db to 2013.
If you brought in a older database from a different system/version and performed a Resore database / Restore As,
then try that procedure again using a different database name?
Also you mite try using a different Contact Layout ?
Cheers - FSB

Thanks for the update Bill, but actually it was one of your earlier posts that pointed me in the right direction. It was the bat file fix for the Duplicate checking. It did the trick. All of our had the same issue and it fixed it for everyone.
