Re: ACT 2012 Pro error with general search

For Windows 7, the Indices folder would be in the following location:

- Windows Vista®, Windows® 7, Windows Server 2008: C:\ProgramData\Act\ACT Data\

You may also want to try disabling UAC on the machine and test.

Definitely no "indices" folder on the errant machine whereas I can see one on other PCs.
Should I uninstall and reinstall ACT!?
It opens a remote database so I can restore it relatively easily.

Thanks for your responses.

Re: ACT 2012 Pro error with general search

Since there is no indices folder, which would explain why all local databases are affected - my suspicion is that something is blocking the ACT! program.  Before uninstall/reinstall, I would try a Selective Startup.  Here is an article with instructions: KB Article 14173

Restart in Selective > launch Sage ACT! > see if the Indices folder is created and if the Server.Host.exe process is getting cpu.  If not created, check the Windows Event Viewer for errors.

FWIW the search function has reappeared while unsuccessfully  trying to resolve another issue related to purging old activities and doing extensive maintenance on the master and remote databases.

There is a solution to this problem but I'm baffled as to what it is Smiley Indifferent

17/1/13 Subsequently I reinstalled ACT!2012 Premium after an aborted attempt to install ACT!2013. Using SP1 this issue reoccured but installing Hot fix #5 solved it.
