Hello all,
Forgive me if this question is already answered elsewere. I have been unsuccessful in finding answers via Google and forum searches so far.
I have a Windows 7 computer with ACT! Pro 2012 v14.1.108.0 HF 6 and Outlook 2013 (MS Office Home and Business 2013).
I exported an ACT database from ACT! Pro 2011 v13.0.401.0, Hot Fix 2.
I would like to do the following:
The data import/open database fails (w/ a SQL error, I don't have the exact text on me) and I am unable to synchronize ACT! w/ Outlook 2013.
Am I doing something wrong?
Do I need a different version/edition of ACT in order to do this?
Thanks!

rather than doing a import export, I"d do a backup from A and restore the backup onto B, then convert the restored backup to ACT 2012 on B. then gointo the restored database and delete the contacts you don't need.

Several things going on.
1) ACT is not yet compatable with Outlook 2013. Best option would be to use Office 2010 until ACT is compatible.
2) rather than export the older version of ACT, consider just moving the database and opening it directly
This will bypass your import issue, and should get you up and going.

Thanks for your response, Mr. Klubnik.
Let me make sure I understand your meaning:
By moving the database, you mean copying all the database files from computer A to computer B and trying to open the database on computer B? Essentially skip the export step?
If I only want to move a subset of the database (contacts is what we're concerned with) from computer A to B I can apply a restriction before exporting (export contacts matching current lookup or somesuch). With the method above I'll have to drop the unwanted contacts from the database after opening it up in ACT! Pro 2012, correct?

Mr. Klubnik,
Thank you, that worked. One thing that tripped me up was determining what user name to use when restoring the database. Well, that and this database has been passed around.
Also thanks for the heads-up about Office 2013.

Hi jonmklub
We have presently Sage ACT 2011 and we want to migrate to ACT 2013.
I can open database directly or I need to do something.
(our database in ACT 2011, it has new field in Contac and Oportunities )
Thanks a lot

Just open the database with the new version and the database will automatically convert.
