ACT 2011 sync with Outlook - Outlook crashed and I had to create a new profile

Outlook 2010 crashed and would not open.   I followed Outlook procedures and created a new profile which got me up and running but now ACT will not sync with Outlook.

I have read all the KB articles I could find

Have done

repair on outlook software

scanpst on outlook

have not reinstalled either ACT or Outlook

I am hoping there is a hidden pointer somewhere in ACt that can be updated to find the correct profile ??

Re: ACT 2011 sync with Outlook - Outlook crashed and I had to create a new profile

Are you receiving an error when attempting to sync?

Have you gone through the Outlook sync settings to disable, then re-enable the sync?

Note: syncing with a new Outlook profile will treat the contacts in Outlook and ACT! as 'new' contacts (like a first sync) and could create duplicates.  Be sure to create a backup of both databases and remove duplicates before synchronizing.

You mentioned "Have you gone through the Outlook sync settings"

Not sure -  are these in Outlook (I cannot find anything here) or in ACT (Tools/ preferences/ email & outlook) which I have turned on an off multiple times (but these is no place to select a profile).

ebenwalker,
Is the list of available email systems in the Email setup in Preferences empty? If so, then try this:
- In your Windows Control Panel, go to Programs & Features
- Uninstall "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable -x86 9.0.21022"
- Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package from the Microsoft site:
64-bit operating system: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523
32-bit operating system: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328
- Reboot your machine

Re: ACT 2011 sync with Outlook - Outlook crashed and I had to create a new profile

I have uninstalled ACT and Outlook and then reinstalled.

I have exactly the same problem.

when the sync runs it appears to collect data from ACT and then does not find Outlook -- also Outlook is not in the list of email programs to choose. (Outlook express, eudora, and internet appear)

The ability to sync was a key reason to choose ACT...  there must be solution to this.
