ACT! 2011->Outlook 2010 One Way Sync

To get around the creation of duplicate Contacts and Calendar entries is it possible to create a ONE WAY automatic regular sync from ACT! to Outlook so at least the updated ACT! records get propogated across to Outlook?

Thanks guys

But if you don't edit in Outlook, isn't the net result the same as a one way sync from ACT!?

Not quite ... especially not if Outlook syncs to a phone, Google or Exchange. The links sometimes change the ItemID, which is why ACT! then produces duplications

Why is that so many phone syncs play happily with Outlook but ACT! can't?

That's it.  Outlook and phone don't "see" a relation between an activity and a human, but ACT! respects this natural connection.

That's a good point Mike - none as far as I am aware - I appreciate the problem.  From your past trials, do you have a list of events which can cause duplicates to be created?

Haven't taken the time to fully document a list ... I just stick to solutions that work

That all sounds fine - I'm definitely up for sticking with what works!  What works in this scenario...

- ACT! 2011 Pro (on Windows 7) (six users)

- Outlook 2010 / Exchange (six users)

- iPhone (one user - at the moment)

  • Everybody within the company uses ACT!
  • Outlook is the preferred e-mail client
  • Some appointment invitations come in via Outlook
  • Some appointments are created on the iPhone and need to end up in ACT! so everyone can see them

I'm sensing Handheld Contact would be good (is it over it's initial release iPhone issues?) but how about the appointments coming in via Outlook ending up in ACT!?
