Thanks TXDave for the exceptions!  They worked for ACT 2012 also.  I was so close to reinstalling ACT.  This saved me a lot of grief and probably still no solution.

I had the same issue this morning and tonight I read this thread. Tried the fix & voila', ACT again works. Thanks to the both of you. TxDave661 & Brittany

I have the same prblem .... I currently have ACT 2012 and have  been an ACT user for over 15 years! 

I've had AVG for the longest time, but just over the last 3-4 days I've not been able to start my ACT application.  I disabled AVG temporarily, and voila.... it started. 

Just for your info ... .AVG did an update recently in my computer... probably AVG is the culprit.

Is there any setting ini AVG that I need to do to avoid this happening evverytime I start ACT 2012?  Can someone please advise?

Hey Jay, you are correct. AVG is the culprit. I received the exceptions that need to be entered in to AVG from their Tech Support to allow ACT! to start up. See message 10 in this thread. Hope it works for you and good luck!

Did every single one, exactly as listed.  Still no joy.  Act! 16 premium.  What a royal pain!

Please contact AVG as the changes made in their update seem to prevent Act! from running.

Great job guys for providing the exceptions and solutions! I solved my issues by just following the steps....
AVG is the miscreant and I hope they wont create new updates with further problems affecting the ACT program.
