ACT!2011-2012 Pro - Opportunity Reports Produce Incorrect Data in fields PO Contact and PO Company.

Which Opportunity Reports? Most all under this following condition;

Example;

In some industries, it is important to relate one contact to another using the Relationships Tab and add memberships to Opportunities from the Opportunities Tab.

When a New Opportunity is created from your Customers Contact Record, is it easy to see who is the owner of that Opportunity being your Customer ( Contact and Company Name ).

But as other Contacts are added to that Opportunity from that contacts opportunity tab, that also happen to have have Different Company names,

Then the Report Results become incorrect. ACT! displays the incorrect info.

 

Viewing All Opportunities in LIST VIEW also shows incorrect info for fields: Contact and Company.

Should default to the Contact Record that the Opp was Created From.?

 

Solution?

The Opportunity Record should Retain the Original Contact/Company info as the Primary Contact/Company.

Anyone added after the opp record creation should just be considered additional contacts/companies.

So this info becomes incorrect in ACT! in the areas where this data is reflected.

ACT! seems to default to the Contact/Company record most recently added instead of the first(original) Contact/Company record.

How soon can we fix this?

 

I may have additional Step-Work-around? for Some Opportunity By Contact Reports

Needs to be a report allowing filtering  for Selecting of Current Contact Reord Only

After I perform Opportunity Lookup on desired Single Opportunity using unique future  "Est Close Date" field,

I have to got the desired Customer Contact Record

 and RUN The Desired Opp Report from the Desired Customer Record(True Initial Customer Record for that Opp).

 

So when can Sage make improvement please?

Sorry no offense, but I almost have to disagree with ya this time Roy.  Got any solution or idea as to How-To Achive desired results?

Any other SAGE ACT! Sales/Opportunity Report that will work/do the job? Correctly? I don't see how you can say it is working as designed. That leaves me desiring to  making some negative comment about Sage rite now but I won't yet.

Adding additional Contacts to any opportunity produces incorrect Sales Report data Period. Try it.

Adding additonal Contacts membership to a opportunity also replaces the initial Contact/Company for that opp in Opportunity List View.

If this is by design, then the design and designer is flawed. I am still a Recruiter and happy to find a Software QA Tester or Developer for Sage. Hope Sage will take a look at this cus it's a HUGE Freekin FLAW.

Reports are structured according to specific rules. When you have a report that first reports on contacts and then opportunities related to that contact the report will first find all the contact within the filter range and then in the subreport list any opportunities linked to that specific contact. (The same thing will happen if you have a note or history linked to more than one contact.) This is a basic fact of any report writer I have worked with. It appears that what you want is an opportunity based report with a contact subreport to show all the contact the opportunity is linked to. That can't be done with the ACT! reports but other report writers such as Crystal Reports.

This is the bigger issue in the post

The list view is a flat file and the contact and company can be one-to-many. Only one can show in the list view and it will be the first one that the list view finds. There isn't any connection to the current contact record. As before, working as designed.

Sorry - Solution NOT Accepted-

If this flaw is by design, then as I said, my offer to Recruit a Qaulity Test Engineer and Software Engineer for Sage ACT! still stands. There will be a fee. A Retained Search Fee. Telling me a flat file is the reason for this major flaw and is designed to be flawed just rubs my roobarb the wrong way. I will see if I can get a Sage Tech on the phone this am.. Can you tell I'm holding back here?

After approx TWO HOURS, I was able to communicate in English with a Atlanta Based Sage ACT! Support Person.

This condition is NOT by Design and it is saving and listing things by PO Contact and PO Company.

Doing this, Causes Opportunity / Sales Reports to product Incorrect Results. PERIOD.

Sage agrees and has seen this condition on my screen and says they will take a look at it.

I originally reported this when ACT!2011 was released.
