Re: ACT 2010 very slow

Server hard drive RPM. Workstation RAM and hard drive RPM. I suspect that increasing the server RAM would help some. For what it's worth, my main workstations had 8 GB RAM.

More information needed. Workstation hardware spec including hard drive RPM, what version of the ACT! program, what kind of network etc.

Re: ACT 2010 very slow

Our version is ACT 2010 Basic with a 5 user license and is stored on our server. The server is Dell Poweredge SC440 2.9 Ghz with 2 gigabyte RAM with Intel Pentium D and 2003 server standard edition. All of the workstations are running XP professional or XP home.

Re: ACT 2010 very slow

Another set of tests to help determine where the slow-down is occurring:

- open your database on the server and test response time.

- open the local demo database on the workstations and check response time.

This can help isolate if the issue is server or workstation resources, or a network lag.

Also, when you are working in your database - is the slow response specific to a function (ex: calendar) or is it occurring throughout the program (on contacts, groups, calendar, task list, etc.)?

Re: ACT 2010 very slow

We have learned that our computers needed more RAM. We upgraded our computers to 6GB and that made all the diiference. Thanks for the help.

Re: ACT 2010 very slow

I got all the updates, act is slow, rescheduling or anything in act is slow. My HDD is not doing anything when I click on OK after rescheduling. But it take a long time to react after the click ok.

All my applications run smoothly, except act.

Re: ACT 2010 very slow

I am on ACT! by Sage Premium 2010 Version 12.1.181.0, Hot Fix 5.
we sync databases over the internet. I have co-worker that in the afternoon ACT will slow down when typing. When you type the character does show for like 2-3 seconds.

Windows XP SP3 3.5 gb of ram and 250gb 5400rpm.

No other person is having this issue. I do the normal defrag, clean disk and other thing to see what is causing the system to lag, but cant figure it out .

Re: ACT 2010 very slow

The 5400 RPM hard drive means that you do take a performance hit but my real question is what antivirus is that person using?
