If you are working in Sage 50 2010 with ACT 2010 open you have to close ACT before you can do a correction in Sage 50. When you close ACT you get an error meesage telling you ACT has encountered an error and has to close.

I suspect that there is some sort of shared component conflict that causes this.
Can you tell me the order in which you installed the 2 products?
Sage 50 2010 and then ACT! 2010 or the other way around?

Unfortunately I cannot readily get a copy of Sage 50 2010 to model the scenario.
Is it possible that you could simply uninstall ACT!, then just reinstall it and retry your scenario and post back?
I want to see if the order is indeed the issue here as I continue to obtain a copy of the software internally.

Thanks for your input.
May I ask what operating system and service pack you are using as well?
I am now able to model this internally, but want to first try to have an environment as close to your's as possible.

Using a Windows Vista session, I was unable to replicate the error that you have reported on this thread based on the install sequence of ACT! 2010, then Sage 50 2010.
Is there something else that you would like me to review concerning your issue?

What is the Sage 50 2010 software, is it Accounts, Payroll, etc.?
Can you give me the exact procedure that results in the error you have seen?
ACT! 2010 has hotfix 3 available under Dowloads of ACT.com. When you get a chance, could you download and install this hotfix to your existing setup and let us know if the procedure continues to result in error?
thanks for your patience and assistance on this.

Have applied Hotfix 4.
When I shut down (whether SAGE 50 accounts is open or open and linked or closed) I get the Windows error message:-
ACT! by Sage has encountered a problem and needs to close. The data that would go in a Microsoft error report is:-
