In ACT! 2000, I had a button (yellow image of a file folder) on the menu bar to open files which I used to access all of the template documents that were written. I can't figure out how to put one on my layout for ACT! 2010. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Norm

To get a menu option that will present your templates folder you can use the Tools > Customize > Menus and Toolbars option. From that option you can select the Commands tab > then highlight Write in the left column. You will then see all of the commands available for the Write menu listed in the right hand column. Left click and hold on the 'Other Document (from Template)' item and drag it to your File/Edit/View toolbar.
When you click on 'Other Document' on the toolbar it will open your Templates folder.

Mr. Martin,
Thank you for the reply. What I am trying to get is a toolbar button that will take me directly to the docs that have already been written by the templates. All accounts are assigned a file number and we generate a folder to hold all of the docs written on their behalf. I miss having a toolbar button that takes me straight there without having to navigate Windows explorer.

Norm,
We have an add-on that can do this. It is called Adv. Layout Tools - General Pack. Among other tools you can add to your layout is an open document button (which opens a document which path is stored in a field) or a launch button (which may open a folder, a document or a program). The product page is at: http://www.exponenciel.com/actaddons/actaddon.aspx?ID=97
Hope this helps,
