I am trying to install 2010 on a laptop and desktop.
Have 2 licenses, and have followed all directions to install pad file on other computer
share the folder for the database.
Pretty much all the directions, so what tricks are there to make it work.
We had the previous version working fine peer to peer, we could install on our server, if that is easier/better?
Not trying to do anything fancy with it, just a simple, I thought, install.

Comes up with an error saying database can't be opened.
I did just notice there is an upgrade to the version of 2010, so I am running that on both computers and may try it again after the update.
The files are where they are supposed to be, just won't open them.

First, I'd update both machines to SP1 + HF5 as per this ACT! Knowledge Base article -
Do you get that error on BOTH machines or just the 2nd one?
Was the database created in 2010 in the 1st PC?
What operating systems?
Why are you trying to share the database on the network? What a laptop, usually sync is a better option ... unless no need to have ACT! data out of the office.
