ACT! 2010 : index-1 error message

Hopefully someone will be able to offer some advice. Firstly I am new to the ACT! system but have just installed ACT! 2010 onto a new machine and convereted the old sales database to work with this version.

We are looking to implement some new fields to provide more information on our customers. I go to design layout and try to insert a new field but it flags up with "index-1 does not have a value".

For example I want to add a field of industry type so we can see what type of customers we are getting but I am unable to do so?

So really what I am asking is whether it is possible to add new fields to an existing database?

Thanks for your help,

Tony

Try adding a new field through the applications Tools > Define Fields dialog. See KB article below.
