ACT! 2010 export to Excel 2010

In trying to export contact lists to Excel 2010, I find that my "Export Current List To Excel" button is grayed out and will not allow me to export at all. What is the cause of this error and how do I fix it so that I can export to Excel 2010? Thank you. - Gary

ACT! 2010 won't work with office 2010, you need ACT! 2011 or later. FYI you have until the end of Septemer to get upgrade pricing with ACT! 2010.

DesignR1 has a tool that will make this to work.  but probably in your best interest at this point to go ahead and upgrade.  Cost savings by not upgrading would not be significant.

Re: ACT! 2010 export to Excel 2010

Excuse my ignorance but then are you saying that ACT automatically recognizes what version of Excel I have (in this case 2013) and therefore my 2010 version of ACT automatically greys out the option?

More of less that's correct. More correctly it doesn't find the necessary connection links because they have been changes by Microsoft.

Re: ACT! 2010 export to Excel 2010

I've found 2012 and 2013 versions of ACT! much better at importing.

If you're going to do this on a regular basis, I'd suggest using OAK!Merge as you can automate the process.

We have a client that recieves on a daily basis a 3rd party file (.csv), they simply put it into the right folder, and overnight a scheduled task runs OAK!Merge and merges in any changes, adds in any new records. It's made life much simpler for this client.

If your import is just a one time occasion, stick with the builtin import.

Re: ACT! 2010 export to Excel 2010

Thanks

we import data about 4 x a year on a large scale but I was really also curious if I should expect any difficulties with upgrading Act and Exporting their excel files of my data.  I hate to upgrade ACT and then find more problems with exporting the excel data because it had issues with Excel 2013.

Thanks again
