ACT! 2009 - problem with alerts

When I access my database, the "Alarms" screen automatically pops up on my screen.  Now, I haven't used my ACT database in a long time!  The "Alarms"  are from 2008 to the present, so there are a lot of alarms.  Once the screen pops up my database is frozen and I can't look up clients.  I don't seem to be able to close the screen, clear the alarms or clear the activity.  

 

Any ideas how I can fix it?  One idea I had was to reinstall ACT! via the download I can get online.  I don't know if I do it this way, will the re-install delete my database

 

ACT! version:  ACT! 2009 (11.0)

Operating System: Windows XP

The data base is on my old Dell laptop

Too many alarms going off can cause a lot of issues and freeze the database.  Reinstalling act won't fix it.  Send a message to the user 'wellmet' on this community site.  He has a tool that should fix it.
