Is it possible to install and run ACT! 2009 on Windows 8 64 bit.? I tried to install it, but the SQL Server 2005 it wants to install is apparently not compatible with Windows 8. Although ACT itself seemed to install OK, the SQL Server installation failed, and so ACT! would not open the database. Apparently SQL Server 2005 installed, but not properly, and so the SQL Server 2005 and the ACT instance of SQL were not listed in Services.

It won't work. That version of SQl is not compatible with that version of Windows. ACT 2013 is NOT yet certified with windows 8. Until it is, you may or may not get that version to work. ACT VErsions with Sql 2005 wont work.

Since Windows 8 doesn't work with Act 2009, is the same held true for ACT 2010 (still uses SQL 2005).
I upgraded on Black Friday to Windows 8 and experienced an install failure of ACT 2010 (incompatible with SQL 2005)
Are there any temporary work arounds until ACT 2013 is certified with Windows 8?
