I'm a new ACT user and just installed ACT 2009. I have Outlook 2003 running on my Dell with Windows Vista. The first thing I noticed is that when I go to Outlook and click NEW to compose a new message, it takes much longer to bring up the new message screen. It appears there are several ACT-related fields that have been added to my Outlook. Is there something I can do to get my Outlook working at the speed it did before I installed ACT? If not, is there a way I can "unlink" ACT and Outlook so the Outlook speed is back to what it was?

It sounds like you have the ACT! address book added to Outlook. I've found unchecking Word as the editor in OUtlook will greatly improve the performance. You want to remove the integration, follow the KB article linked below to remove the ACT! address book..
How to uncheck Word as the email editor:
- Launch Outlook.
- Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
- Under the Mail Format tab clear the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages option.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
