ACT! 2009 - Locking Up

ACT! locks up daily. I have recently installed ASDS Fax Add-on... could this be the problem?

I'm not saying asds fax software add-on is the problem but, I also recently took asds fax add-on for a test drive and was disapointed just a bit in that I had to disable my ACT! dialer in the ACT! Preferences folder, rather asds did it for me. I recommend you contact asds and discuss the probelm with them and consider removing that product for a short time to see if condition improves. I am always on the look out for a good fax solution that interfaces with ACT! but for now and for many years I have used www.faxtalk.com .. I use my ACT! Dialer so I removed asds for now and Faxtalk has been rock solid for many years. I also use www.magicjack.com  usb phone and run a phone wire from my modem into my magic jack splitter so I can fax using voip phone over broadband cox cable thru the magic jack. wow thats a lot -

You can reach asds at:

Re: ACT! 2009 - Locking Up

I spoke to support at Faxtalk and was told it's not compatible with Act 2009.  How are you able to use it?

Re: ACT! 2009 - Locking Up

At present faxtalk is not interfaceable with ACT!. I use them as two seperate products.

As far as I know, only other option for a fax software that is intefaceable with ACT!, would be winfax pro 10.03 , but I think? you have to purchase some Norton/Symantec security solution package to get winfaxpro 10.3? Not sure you can purchase it by itself? I dont/wont use norton again so that is not a option for me. Cheers - FSB

Re: ACT! 2009 - Locking Up

I don't have the lock-up problem any longer but I do get a Microsoft error message everytime I shut ACT down stating "ACT! by Sage has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience". Any ideas?

Re: ACT! 2009 - Locking Up

Have you attempted repair by running   ACTDIAG  utility ?

Start; Run; ACTDIAG

Then select(highlight) correct database name from database list option.

 Repair or Reindex options

 or

Rebuild Options ; such as rebuild schema, etc...
