ACT 2009 Layout & Fields To Be Shared With ACT2008 Database

Version 11

I have a co-worker who would like to use my touch and feel of ACT, but he is one version behind.  How can I save the layout and field names I created so he can use it in the 2008 version?

Thanks in advance for your response

Re: ACT 2009 Layout & Fields To Be Shared With ACT2008 Database

Hi

Your not going to like my answer - but someone has to say it, there is no facility to save to a previous version. If you recreated exactly your field names in their database you may  be able to copy the layouts file over but this is an untested and properly unwise option.  Also there is no way to sync two different versions.

Best option - You know what to buy them for Christmas now -  upgrade to ACT 2009.

Just to add, if you don't actually want to share the database with your colleague and they just want their screen to look like yours you could try copying the layout file (*.cly) from your database to theirs.

When they use it they will almost certainly find grayed-out or missing fields but they could then edit the layout and attach or create any fields that are missing. They would then have the same screen design as you.
