I'm running with 2GB RAM, 2 GB database inside an 8 GB volume, 5 GB available disk space, ACT 220.127.116.11.
Backup fails to complete. It often won't get paste loading up the progress bar. I've run the ACTDIAG routines and the database checks out fine.
I am able to successfully shut down ACT from within Task Manager. As long as I've saved the database before attempting the backup all data is fine.

The database (ADB file) is 2GB? that's pretty big.
Are you trying to backup to the same volume? You'll usually need 2-3 times the database size as it creates the temp files then zips them.

The database in question is actually only 150 MB, the volume (an encrypted TrueCrypt volume) contains a total of 2 GB data within the 8.4 GB volume. The encrypted volume contains several databases (I still keep the old generations of dbs just in case), ACT backups in a separate sub-directory, and other sensitive data.
I just successfully completed a backup using my laptop (AMD Turion 64, 2GB RAM) rather than the desktop which hosts ACT (Intel P4 640, 2GB RAM). Maybe it has something to do with the older cpu or the newer BIOS (2009 vs 2006). Maybe it's time for an upgrade for the server.
