ACT 2008 v. 10 can't access my database

I'm using Act 2008 v. 10 and can no longer access my database.  Error I"m getting says:

"The database can't be accessed.  In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available.  It may be necessary to disable any firewall software on your computer or the server".

My database is on my local machine and I have no server.  I turned the firewall off and it still didn't help.  I can see the file but when I try to open it it gives me this message.  Help!!!

See if the SQL service is started.

- Go to Start -> Run and type in services.msc

- Find SQL Server (ACT7) and start the service.
