I have an end user who has a Windows XP SP3 box with Symantec Endpoint loaded. He has ACT 2008 installed, and a remote database is housed on his c:\ACT directory. We have this same configuration on several different workstations and laptops. The problem is, his will NOT sync. When you attempt a sync, it gets to the initializing handshake part, runs for a good 30-45 minutes, and finally times out. This is what is in the sync log:
======== SYNC SESSION - 10/16/2008 12:57:49 PM ========
[ Info | 10/16/2008 12:57:49 PM ]Message: Synchronization started.
[ Info | 10/16/2008 12:57:49 PM ]Message: Server object created.
[ Info | 10/16/2008 12:57:52 PM ]Message: Checking if schema changes are available for sync.
[ Info | 10/16/2008 12:58:18 PM ]Message: Server establishing synchronization with remote database: RBAIRD

That's where it ends. I have googled to my wit's end. Any ideas?

If you have not already done so, then I would advise updating to the 10.0.3 version of 2008. You will need to update the sync services as well as the program. Here are links to Knowledgebase articles regarding the update:
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
