I am wondering if there is a way fix this without totally uninstalling and reinstalling??

Please advise,

Yes, I followed the article and still the update failed.

The error in the log indicates a source file cannot be located.

So now what?

Re: ACT 2007 version 9 (9.0.1.162) will not update SQL 2005 Express to SP#

For whatever the reason, the SQL Server 2005 Installation database has become damaged on your machine.

Upon applying the update to Service Pack 3 of SQL, the routine is trying to find the original manifest to one of the components which it cannot locate.  Rather than running the risk of damaging the installation of a component that cannot be validated, the job was aborted.

The best solution for you is to uninstall SQL Server 2005 from your machine completely.  Once this is done, you may reinstall SQL from your ACT! media.

Follow ACT! knowledgebase article 24366 to assist with the SQL 2005 Express reinstallation.
