ACT 2007 startup failure

[ Edited ]

I have act v9 and has been working fine for over a year, just last week upon startup it wont complete the loading procedure citing that it has failed to open a connection to the database, so far all I have tried is a repair in the add/remove programs section of control panel, any ideas or links that you can put me onto?

Re: ACT 2009 startup failure

I'm having a similar problem with Act 2009.  Worked fine for over a year.  Then suddenly when I try to start it, I get the Microsoft Error Message - "Act by Sage has encountered a problem and needs toclose.  We're sorry for the inconvenience."  It doesn't appear to have done anything.  So thinking it was a system problem, I did a system restore (Windows XP) and restored 3 times to earlier dates.  That didn't work.  So I thought maybe Act 2009 is  corrupted so I uninstalled and reinstalled from the original disk.  The result is the same error message.  Nothing I've tried seems to work.  Any ideas?
