Yes, I have applied the following actions like you advised below

Uninstall any version of ACT! for Palm from the Control Panel
Uninstall any version of ACT! from Windows Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs
Use the Uninstaller.exe from the ACT! KB 19338 (the exe, not the manual uninstall)
Uninstall .Net Framework (all versions) - this does NOT apply to Vista users as .Net 2.0 is part of the OS and can't be uninstalled
Uninstall any MS SQL items from the Control Panel if istill there
Uninstall MSXML Services from Control Panel if it's still there
Perform a Selective restart with MSCONFIG as per ACT! KB 14499
Install .Net 2.0 Framework from MS web site (only for XP, not Vista)- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en
Manually install MS SQL as per ACT! KB 19386
Install ACT! 9.0
Install ACT! 9.01 patch if the previous install was the previous build
Install Hotfix 3
Restore from Selective Startup Mode with MSCONFIG
Reboot
Make sure it works

And I now have ACT opeining correctly.

Thanks for all your help with this tagging you do it certainly helped me( a real PBKAC)

Re: ACT 2007 not opening correctly

Can you run C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows\LogViewer.exe and see if anything is there?

Also see if there is an error in the Windows Event Log

Re: ACT 2007 not opening correctly

Hi Mike, Here is the ACT log, I couldn't find the windows event log.

ACT log viewer says:

"ACT! the act diag.exe shows

You appear to have a computer shop in Sydney, I am prepared to pay for this to be fixed as i appear to have deleted something from Microsoft SQL server when i got rid of previous versions of ACT

Re: ACT 2007 not opening correctly

Sorry haven't popped in here this week.

In the ACT! application data directory is a file named Dependentdll.xml - can you try deleting it and seeing what happens?

Have you tried a clean install as per the methods I've posted in these forums?

Where are you based?
