I purchased ACT! mid 2007 and it worked fine until recently. Since I first installed ACT!, there were few time ACT! stopped working as I could not open it. Later I found out I could fix the problem with SQL server configuration manager to restart the SQL server (ACT7). Recently, I tried to restart the server and it showed below message.
"The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details.
Are there any other method to restart SQL server? or to open ACT! 2007 database?

Try disabling your antivirus software. Also try rebooting to selective startup to see if the service will start.
