Take backups of your existing act databases.

This may help except for the stated ram required. you need 4+ gig ram. http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36092/kw/how%20to%20install%202014

What is your OS? recommend - do not use older under powered pc such as xp os.

Are you planning to interface act with outlook? Install office first if not already done..

Insure you have .net framwork 4.5 already installed?

Before and After installing actv16, manually check for windows updates. then manually check for your act! hotfixes at the download center http://www.act.com/support/download-center/

Re: ACT 2004 to 2014

You should simply open the ACT! 6 database with ACT! 16 abd follow the conversion steps. An import of the ACT! 6 DBF would only have the contacts and not any notes or histopry.
