ACT 12 Defining Fields Changing Phone Field

Currently I have a field that is supposed to be Square Feet and it is defined as a phone number. I'm trying to change it to just a number, but it seems stuck on phone. How do I do this?

I'd create a new field ... phone number fields have all sorts of additional things connected to them (eg for the country code section)

If there is data in this field, once you create the new field, you can copy the data over by selecting Edit, and Copy field. Then just add your new field to the layout in the place of the old one.

Is there an easy way to copy and paste in all contacts? To the new field, or does each one have to be done manually.
