I have a client who recently installed ACT! and is having performance issues primarily when sending contacts email. Below are the specifications:
ACT! Premium 2009 (11.0) 220.127.116.117= 460 contacts and 5 users
Server= Small Business Server 2003 R2 with Dual 2.0ghz processors with hyperthread; 4gb RAM; 3 146gb 15krpm drives in a RAID5
Desktops= XP Pro SP2 with 2.4ghz procs and 1gb ram
The lease is expiring on the desktops and will soon be upgraded and will have 2gb ram.
When the users attempt to send an email to a contact from within ACT! it is about a 30 second delay. End users are also complaining other areas are slow but are not able to give me an example. I benchmarked the email issue and it does not seem to put a load on the server. SQL is using over 1.5gb of the RAM but there is 1.3gb available on the server.
I am not sure throwing more hardware will solve this. Any guidance would be appreciated and welcomed.
Thanks in advance

Are they using Outlook as the client... so not using the ACT! email client?
So they just click on an email address in ACT! and it bring us the Outlook new email
They type the subject/body and click send
Which part is slow?
What's running in the Task Manager on the local system?
