ACT! 10 - Opportunities Report by Contact question? How To Print Just 1 Opportunity ?

OK help me Roy or sumbody.. Please. This one is getting the best of me today.

I have a Customer/Contact with multiple Opportunities.

I want to Print a Single Opportunity at a Time.

I need to be able to select from the Define Filters pop up( General & Opportunity ) Tab criteria..

But what I get is All Opportunities for that one Customer / Contact when the Contact has multiple opps..

I created a modified Opportunity by Contact Report ( sorting by a Opportunity number (user defined field) )..

but from my Opportunities List, ( Highlite/select a specific opp) and I do a Lookup Selected,

Then I do a Create Lookup   but then it takes me from Opportunity List view to  Contact List View

Then I run report and I get ALL Opportunities for that specific Contact instead of just the One Oppportunity I wanted to print.

If I have only one opportunity for that Contact, the report works fine.

Need Help - Thanks - FillStaffBill

[ Edited ]

Thanks again Roy - I found a temporary solution.

Say my report generates 8 pages and the one I need is page 3 of 8.

When I choose the Print option, I am able to set parameter to print a range of pages or a single page in a report ,

so I just instruct to print page range   from page  3   to page 3    rather than print entire report.

Too bad the Write Template feature can not access the opportunities data.

I hope Sage can improve that issue.   Thank you again.

There isn't any direct way to do what you want. Basically what you are trying to do is filter the report for one specific opportunity and the report editor and runtime dialog doesn't provide any way to perform the filtering. I've had some success using VB script programming to do a form of filtering for some reports. For example I have a Notes/History report that reports only the most recent history entry for Call Completed, Meeting Held , To-do Done and Note. Depending on how you wanted it filtered for a single opportunity, it might be possible to create a report with custom filtering  using VB script programming.

Roy, Thanks for the quick response.

That is so hard to believe and I hope Sage can add that ability to the reporting of ACT!.

Without custom programming, can I do this using a Write Template?

  or   Crystal Reports?

It doesn't seem right that ACT! jumps from the Opp List view to the Contact List view when I'm selecting which opportunity I want to work with.

Lookup selected keeps you in the Opp list view, but then the Create Lookup takes you to Contact list view.. Is that a Bug? It is for me. hahaha

Thanks again, FSB

Re: ACT! 10 - Opportunities Report by Contact question? How To Print Just 1 Opportunity ?

Fields from the opportunities can't be used in a letter template. There may be the possibility of doing what you want in the future because of changes to the way opportunities are handled but at the present time, I don't think it would be easy, if possible, with Crystal reports.

Regarding the Lookup Selected vs. Create Lookup, the way it works seems very logical to me. Lookup selected directly related to the selected opportunities on the opportunity list while Create Lookup would related to the contact represented by the opportunities in the list.
