We have shared a 2013 database from a server for years. Lately 2nd user has problems when entering new contacts or updates to existing - often disappear. Reinstalled and added SP1, takes 10 minutes to log in, but 1st user nice and quick. Deleted user, re-created with diff. name, same problem. When 1st user assigns activity to 2nd, recv. message: "Invalid reccurrence pattern. Retrieval of named days expects day type of Named. Actual value is None." 1st user was always able to schedule for second, but can't with this error message. Is this a clue as to why 2nd user has problems? If 1st user (Administrator) logs in as 2nd user, scheduling worked fine for that user, once, but now produces same error message as above when attempting to set time for activity..

That indicates a data issue with some of the activity records in the system. That would definitely cause a performance problem. In order to get it fixed you will need to send the database in to database services or you will need to get it fixed by one of the ACCs that do database repair. I can fix it for you. Contact me offline if you'd like t discuss it.
