2005 to 2012 Schema Update failed

[ Edited ]

Hello everyone,

I am the new IT person (and the only one) at my company. We've just moved buildings and decided to purchase new computers in the process. I've been delayed in rolling one out due to a user on the sales team with an ACT database that won't sucessfully update.

We had another sales associate whose database was pulled in without any issues. I've tried remedying this problem by running every option in ACT Diag on both versions - but alas, they say they ran sucessfully but have had no effect. ACT is something I am unfamiliar with but I am doing my best! If anyone can help me, I would truly appreciate it.

Here's what I have for you...

Old Computer details:

  • Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit
  • ACT! 2005 7.0.399.0

New Computer details:

  • Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit
  • ACT! Pro 2012 Version 14.1.108.0

The error message states that the schema update failed with these results attached:

Schema Update failed.

I'm sure someone here can parse through this log better than I can. If any more details are need please do not hesitate to let me know. I've tried to include everything that seemed relevant.

Re: 2005 to 2012 Schema Update failed

The issue it looks like you are having with the database is that there is an activity record with invalid information in it.  Sometimes if you take the database and do a save copy as to a new database the problem activity won't be transfered to the new database and you will be able to do the conversion.  Sometimes you need to create a database and do an import with ACT! 2005 to fix it.

I would recommend working with an ACT! Certified Consultant to get this problem resolved.  They have had a lot of experience doing this and it would save you the headache.  The version that you are using is so old that I don't think Swiftpage's Database Services will work on it but they might.
