upgrading ACT 6 and new computer?

My computer is acting crazy and I will be updating to a new Windows 7.  I will update my ACT 6 to a newer version but will all my data be transferred "easily".  I no longer have a secretary and I don't know if I will have to create a new layout or will my layout be transferred easily?

Re: upgrading ACT 6 and new computer?

Your data (including history, templates, and layouts) will convert to the new version of Act! (2010).  There are some basic steps to perform before converting to ensure your data is as 'clean' as possible.  Here is a link to steps for converting a V6 database to 2010 and it includes the steps for performing maintenance on your database: Convert 3-6 database to Act! 2010

You will want to run the Scan and Repair step multiple times (3 times is good).  It is a good idea to run this maintenance even if you aren't going to convert to a newer version of Act!.
