transferring from Windows XP to Vista

I have ACT 6.0.

I used to have Windows XP on my old computer.

I bought a new computer whcih now has Windows Vista.

I'm unable to transfer some of the database information.

I can only imagine that Vista is causing the problem because the databased still work on my old computer.

How do I get the databases to work on Vista?

To transfer the database you need the entire database folder, not just the DBF.

However, you should note that some function in ACT! 6.0 won't work under Vistra as it wasn't designed for it.

Can you be more specific as to the problems with 6.0 and Vista?

We remain on XP for this reason.

First off, there has not been any comprehensive testing of ACT! 6 on Vista. I've seen reports of generally acceptable operation to being unable to install ACT! 6 on Vista. Probably most important, if you have problems running ACT! 6 on Vista, there isn't any help available.

Often connection to Word can be lost and, if using Office 2007, email via Outlook and Word is unlikely to work.

Other issues are possible. Some users have it working and some can't ... as Roy says, no real testing has been done to work out why

The best option is to upgrade ACT! to the current version
