restore a database

I have been an act user for a long time and have installed several versions. I have been using an on-line backup service and everything was fine. Until I had to restore.

When I re-installed Win XP and all of the aps I installed 2007 (9.0) as well. It started OK, created a demo file, I tried to open another database and it could not find the archived db.

One of the weird things about my previous ACT install was that it looked like it was starting several versions.

One of the possible solutions is the db was for a different version. I know I have to uninstall 9.0 but I have no master disks for the older versions of act. Is there an on-line directory of older versions?

I have read here the old db's used foxpro and the newer versions are SQL and there is no conversion.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. - mystified

Re: restore a database

When I was in ACT! tech support, the question of online backup services came up and researched. Most of those services did an incremental backup of the individual database files rather than a full backup of all the database files. Because al 25+ ACT! 6 database files are internally interlocked, doing an incremental backup would typically over time corrupt the database. I suspect that is what happened to you. I don't know if the database can be salvaged but you might contact an ACT! 6 database repair service to see if they can help. Here is the link.
