"Insufficient memory" error sending mail merge email

Hello-  I have sent literally thousands of mail merge emails and never had this problem.  Now, I am trying to send a single mail-merge email and an error "insufficient memory to send this email" comes up.  The email template is only 38 kb, so not a huge email.

ACT version 6.0.2, Outlook 2003

Thank you

How many people are you trying to send the mail merge too?

Re: "Insufficient memory" error sending mail merge email

Just one.  I changed the email to text only and reduced size to 5.8 kb and was able to send to a distribution list of about 90 people.  But it seems like 38 kb isn't very big either, so it seems strange.

Thanks

Re: "Insufficient memory" error sending mail merge email

It's a system resource issue. All 80 messages had to be separately created and when they were done in HTML, additional temp files were required to build the individual email messages. If you frequently send email messages to fairly large distribution lists you should consider using SwiftPage Email which will link to the ACT! database and provides additional information regarding the delivery of the email messages.

Do you mean system issue with my computer?  If I am sending 80 messages x 5 kb, wouldn't that take more memory than one 38 kb message?

System resources as in Windows itself. While the error says memory, the issues is typically file handles. I've seen system resources so depleted that it was unable to open the My computer dialog box. With XP and later, they will recover after a period of time.

OK, just so I'm understanding, do you mean that XP will "repair" itself over time?  My computer should have sufficient resources.  Would it help to close all programs except ACT and Outlook?  I prefer to stick with Outlook for email if possible.

Re: "Insufficient memory" error sending mail merge email

With a small email, Outlook has similar resource issues at about 100 emails. It's not memory, but system resource

In addition, ACT! will have issues with any email over 32KB

To do this better, you should have a look at MergeMaster!
