Uninstalling Act2000

I am trying to unistall Norton 360 as it is no longer working. Dont know why.

To remove it I am required to uninstall Symantec Act however when I try to do this via Add Remove programs it tells me Uninst6.isu is corrupt and the application cannot be removed.

Can anyone say how I can over come this. I wondered if I can get a new Uninst6.isu file and this might solve the problem?

Many Thanks

Re: Uninstalling Act2000

The isu file is the InstallShield Uninstall script that is specific to your system install. A new one won't help.

You could try the 5.04 update - http://www.act.com/support/updates/index.cfm?show_downloads=true&product=1&version=9&locale=7&DOWNLO...
Then a normal uninstall - if the update works, the uninstall may function. But, with Norton installed, it's likely the update may not work.

If not, try this manual uninstall (this is for 6.0, but might still work for 5.0) - http://tinyurl.com/675c8g

The issue is that ACT! 3.0-6.0 were Symantec products and used the Symantec registry hive. The newer Symantec AV products don't allow non-Symantec products to use those keys

Since ACT! is no-longer owned by Symantec (even though they were then), they no-longer permit those ACT! products to access the reg keys they need.

Re: Uninstalling Act2000

It is often necessary to remvoe symantec/norton products with some force. This should help - http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 .

Re: Uninstalling Act2000

Thanks for the Norton Removal tool idea.

I already have this and when I run it I  get the message that Symantec ACT!200 must be removed through Add/Remove Programs.

This is where I get the message  Uninst6.isu is not valid or has been corrupted. So dead end.

[ Edited ]

Thanks Mike

I had a look at the registry instructions at http://tinyurl.com/675c8g and How to Manually Uninstall ACT!

Under

HKEY_Classes_Root

I found a number of folders mainly empty except for a default file
ACT!.Application    Default
ACT!.Database    Default
ACT!.Email     Default
various ACT folders down to
ACTEVENT

I was not sure what if anything should be done here
