I'm suing Act! v6 w/SideAct
no matter how I do it, it will NOT retain the database selected
it shows a field called ALarm setup File but my version of SideAct does not have this
so there is no way for me to do the fix sugested in the fix.
if I enter the databse and password it accepts it, I hit ok, and then check again and the database details are gone.
anyone have an idea OR a way for me to DL a newer version of SideAct! that works w/v6?
thanks in advance!

with prior installs I had no problem, but I decided to try it again, maybe 1yr after I tried it the last time and no go.
but as for "doesn't have the access" it accesses it fine once I put it in, but past that, it won't retain the settings.
is there anyway to get an update of just SideACt?
and more, is this ONLY for tasks, because really all I want to do is have an audible alarm go off when I have a meeting and from what I understand SideACt! is the only way that can be accomplished. ;(

SideACT! was discontinued after ACT! 6 so there aren't any updates. ACT! 2012 has a new feature called Scratch Pad that is similar to SideACT! so you might want to consider upgrading.

sure but in this article here: http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13237
you can see the screen with a SPECIFIC place to save the configuration file
which I THINK is the reason this isn't saving.
where can I get that .exe file? and any of the related files for it?
my bet is that I might be able to sneak this all in
AS for the upgrade, uhmmmmmm, can't
thanks to the upgrade I MUST use the server based Sync'ing and I don't like the idea of my contacts and details being sent to someones server and then sent back to my phone, ect., and this is why I'm using v6 and a Palm Treo - it never fails and my data ALWAYS stays with me.

I have no idea where you might find those files. There is a trial version of ACT! 6 available to aid people in upgrading old databases and you might try that.

If you can help me get ANY older versions of the SideAct .EXE I can see which one works. W/my programming experince SideAct is just a database "poler" and I just need it to READ not write to the .DBF for calendar entries that house appointments - that is ALL I use, don't use any other calls, etc., so I assume there are no other .DLL's etc., that it uses. There's a lot of assumptions there, so.......
