Randomizing contacts

How could I look at the same group of prospects each day and have them come up in a random order that's different every day?  Is there a unique identifier that stays with each contact in a 6.0 database no matter its ID/Status or what groups it might be put into?  Thanks.

Re: Randomizing contacts

There is a UniqueID, but it's only available via the SDK

Why would you want them in a random order?

Re: Randomizing contacts

What is the SDK?

I want to call through the prospects evenly, and don't want to have to find my place every time I pick up the file.

SDK - Software Development Kit (for programmers)

Why not add a field and mark it when you've made a call... then lookup those unmarked. When you get none, use Edit | Replace to blank the field.

Re: Randomizing contacts

That's a good idea!  That hadn't occurred to me at all.  Thank you so much! I think that will really help us!

Can I ask you, since you're an evangelist - which version of Act would you recommend most for people who don't need to be power users but do a lot with groups, alarms and reports?  We've been happy with 6.0 but as computers advance I'm sure there will come a time when we can't use it any more.

Re: Randomizing contacts

Large numbers of Groups and Activities were two areas that could really slow down ACT! 6.0

Depending on the hardware you have, the OS and version of Office, you might find ACT! 2012 worth upgrading to.

The new versions also have many way to create more powerful reports.

Re: Randomizing contacts

Is there a way to automatically mark such a field when another field, for instance, Last Results, is changed?

I'm not sure what you mean by "add-ons".  I've never done anything with this.

Re: Randomizing contacts

Add-ons ... apps that add functionality to ACT! via the SDK

It really depends on the functionality you need.
