Network troubles. can different versions of act share databases?

the situation is: we have several computors networked with ACT 6 and we just got a new computor with vista. we put ACT on this new computor and it is the latest version. ACT on the new computor will not network with the other computor's ACT and it is completely useless if they don't work together.

What version of ACT! is on the new computer? All computers must have the same version of ACT! to share a database.

Thanks for the help. and for the quick response. your second sentence answered my question, but my boss isn't going to like the answer. the upgrade$ are pricy. especially when we are very content with the version we have.

I still have an ACT! 6.0 6-pack or 2 left (no singles)
