I have read some threads that say to use 'Magic DB Explorer'
i have downloaded a copy of it but am not able to connect to the act database. if someone knows how to do this, a step by step would be very helpfull.
if anyone knows of a different way to export data from act 6 to anything else please let me know what i need to do. i need more then just the contacts though, i need at the very least the notes for the contacts.
any help would be appreciated, thank you!

There is a program that exports everything out to Access from JL Technical I use for my clients.
There is a free trial for 200 contacts to see if it works for you.

Ditto on what Michelle posted regarding JLTechnical - their product, Exporter, is used worldwide by almost everyone - Linda Keating, the author of 'Exporter' is amazing - she can sell you the product or do the export for you - your choice. Everyone who converts to salesforce.com uses Exporter because of it's reliability and stability.

That would indicate there is internal corruption in the database. If you've done all the field repairs for the database including importing into an empty copy then you would need to consider a database repair service.
