I recently came across an issue I had never noticed before.
I have a database of 19,000 some on contacts, and for any contact where I have only entered a first name in the contact field ACT! automatically has assigned that name to be the contacts last name not first name.
I now have 1000's of contacts that I cant use for Mail Merges because the first name is the last name.
Is there a way to resolve this issue for the contacts I already have, and also to make Act! accept a sinlge first name with no last name as the first name in the future so I dont have to manually change 1000's of contacts one at a time?
Any help is greatly appreciate.

The contact name parsing is hard coded and a single name is always recorded as the last name. However, you can click on the contact field and then on the button at the end of the field and over ride the automatic parsing. That isn't a problem at the time the contact is entered but for those you already have entered, you can override the parsing but it's one record at a time.

I downloaded OakCheck and tried to use its swap and replace feature.
But under swap and replace you actually cant select the system fields of First Name or Surname to do ti with.
The program lets y ou select any other field but the ones i need to change.
Is there a work around?
