I have Win XP and experienced a problem. I have almost everything back except..
Before, I had Act V3 and Act V8 on my computer. There was still one V3 database (made for Win 95) which I did not convert and need. It would still run after I upgraded to V8 but I had to use old program.
Act V8 is installed and works fine.
Can I reinstall Act V3 now without messing up V8 settings/files?

If you can get it to install it shouldn't cause any problem though I would suggest that you don't try to set up email or connect to Word as the word processor.

I will keep plugging away at it. I added another Act folder to my programs files but the install would not recognize it (or much of anything else). Again, this was made for win 95, before it recognized long file names I believe. The file I want to retrieve contains home contacts such as long-lost-cousins, pest control companies, etc.). I know I should have converted it before.
Do you know if I can install it to my “D” drive? I can find D on the Act install and that may be safer but there is no operating system on D. There is nothing on D but backup which is also at Carbonite.
If all it overwrites is email links or office type links that will not be a problem as I do not use those links anyway.
I will keep you updated on how it goes

ACT! 3 did recognize long files names but the installer didn't. I remember at one point some of the install file names started using long file names and caused install problems.
