Don't I need Admin permissions to install on the work machine?

Yes... but I thought you said you installed it.

Are you going to run the database on both? Then you'll need to set up sync and have IT allow you to use a VPN or port forward through the firewall

Yes, installed and running fine at home.  I'm leaning towards syncing vs. remoting and this means databases on both home and work.    However, I'm flexible on this.  If syncing proves more difficult, I can remote in, but I'd hate to have to pay for a service.  I'd look into the one someone mentioned earlier.  Remoting in 'feells' like 'cloud computing' and I just like the feeling of a local database.

Of couse the irony is that if I'm remoting in, I don't need to upgrade to 11.  6 would work fine.

Hamachi does have a free version for VPN... or your IT might be able to port forward from the firewall to your work machine. You can set any port to sync with.

Sync isn't the only (or even the main) reason for ACT! 11 over 6
