I never used it with a master dbf file. But it may have something to do with opportunistic locking. I ran into that a long time ago and have since deleted that tip. I suggest you google that as it relates to ACT!6

You would disable OL, I just don't remember any details about the issue that it creates, it was a long time ago and I have trouble with yesterday. If you only run ACT on one remote computer and it is slow then obviously it is not related to OL since no one else is using the db. If it runs fine then it is probably not a network issue so disable OL.

I know this is an old thread but I need some help. Have Act 5 installed but need to update from ver 188.8.131.52 to at least 184.108.40.2063 to assist another user. Anyone that can help supply whatever updates and hotfixes or point me to a download to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

you can try a REAL long shot and email firstname.lastname@example.org to see if they can help.
This is their web page https://www.act.com/lp/contact-us
It is Swiftpage ACT! and apparently they own the product now.
If you get a real nice person you might even be able to snag a copy of ACT!6
Never know what is floating around in the world.

Thank you for your reply. Been there done that. They stated they no longer support the old versions and they no longer have downloads for them.
On the brighter side, I found (finally) the 5.03 and 5.04 update online. Now I am looking for the 5.04 Hotfix and any other hotfixes for version 5. I’m not particularly worried about hotfixes, since they generally correspond to links to the operating system and since I am using Windows 7 it is unlikely they would work anyway.
Once again, Thank You so much for taking the time to reply.
