How to eliminate duplicate contacts in a query?

[ Edited ]

I need to eliminate duplicates where the same name appears in different contact fields. ((ID/Status = "Customer"*)) AND (("Contact" !<> "Copy Contact")) does not work.

Thanks for your help!

The query you posted does not look valid. More information is needed, ACT! version fields being used in the query, field values, etc.

Re: How to eliminate duplicate contacts in a query?

The query works to give me a list of records that have "customer" in the ID/Status field, but I also have contact and copy contact fields.  Some of those fields have the same names and I want to eliminate them from my results.

That help?

The query in your post looks like it might be ACT! 6. With the additional information I can tell you that query would never work.

The query ((ID/Status = "Customer"*)) AND ((Contact !<> "Copy Contact")) works in ACT! 4 but my main problem is how to eliminate records where the same person is listed in multiple contact fields.  I want to eliminate a duplicate record in that case.

Hi,

Sorry about that. It's a little bug in the software. You can use the source code button (http://community.act.com/t5/assets/lithium/web2/components/editors/tinymce/plugins/insertcode/images/insertcode.gif) in the graphical editor if you have problems. That will insert the code into a box in which the editor will not add formatting.

((ID/Status = "Customer"*)) AND ((Contact !<> "Copy Contact"))
