How can I remove all ACT 2002 files from my PC?

I'm trying to install Macafee but it won't let me until I remove Norton

The Norton removal tool wont work unless I remove ACT 2002!

I haven't used ACT in 6 years and I can find any files!!!

Hello syncroman,

 

Did you already uninstall ACT! 2002 from add/remove programs? ACT! and Symantec shared a couple registry keys.  You can try removing them and attempt uninstall again.  You can find them in the KB article below.

You may have to contact Symantec for help. The Symantec hive in the registry include this key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\InstalledApps 
 
If you remove the ACT! entries from there, it should resolve your problem. The problem is that Norton Antivirus has for some time made that key read only so you can't delete files from there unless the read only block is removed first and that capability isn't available in the regedit.
